What this task is

Someone is booking a course, hiring a venue, joining a club. You have the form. The details arrive in conversation, and you catch them as they pass.

This is the gentlest task in the test. Answers are close to literal. The real work is accuracy. Names get spelled out letter by letter, numbers come at speaking pace, and one mark separates "Tuesday" from "Teusday".

The traps

These are built in on purpose. Know them by name and half the danger is gone.

Self-correction

"So that's the 14th... sorry, no, they moved it to the 15th." The second version is almost always the answer. When a speaker backtracks, be ready to change what you wrote.

Two numbers in one breath

A price is quoted, then a member discount. A date is offered, then swapped for another. Only one of them answers the question on the form.

The unit is already printed

If the form shows "£ ......", the answer is the bare number. Write "£38" into a blank that already has the £ sign and you can lose the mark.

What to do next time

Read the form in the pause before the audio. Predict the shape of each answer. A name here, a price there, a day of the week there. You will hear it coming.
When a name is spelled aloud, write the letters as you hear them. Unusual spellings are the point, so do not trust how the name "should" look.
Check the word limit before the audio starts. "ONE WORD AND/OR A NUMBER" means "half past three" is already too long. Write 3.30.
